Okay, you've got the second EMP device ready to go. It's getting late in the afternoon by the time you set out for town.

Building... sneaking... talking. Got it.

No wait! ... no, I got it... definitely

Umm, are we talking to the solicitor first?

Cause we have no idea where Julia is...

Yes, we're going to look for the solicitor first. And since we don't know exactly where Julia is, once we talk to the family solicitor, we can send out your signal to her and see what happens.

All loaded up, you set out for town as the shadows lengthen and the sun sinks low on the horizon. The road takes you past another country estate, which appears to have been laid waste. You don't see too many people on the road; the ones that you do see keep their heads down and move past quickly, apparently as eager to avoid contact with you as you are with them.

The twilight is fading to full dark by the time you reach the outskirts of town. You pass by a pair of factories; one appears to be shut down and abandoned, while the other looks to be operating, but closed down for the night. You can see a watchman with a lantern in one hand walking a round inside a high wire fence.

Finally, you find the home and office of Bothwick Munson, confirmed by the somewhat battered-looking shingle hanging out front. It's in the middle of a block of row houses; several of the others have been burned out, but Munson's appears to be intact. The only light you can see is from between a shuttered window on the lower floor.

And Harlan kept talking about Charles Dickens and "Great Expectations" most of the way there.

Several moments pass, and then you can hear the sound of some kind of latches being thrown, and a very small portal near the top of the door opens. Though you can't see anyone through it, apparently someone on the other side can see you. A voice which Lord Starling recognizes despite its being muffled by the door speaks. "Rufus? Rufus Starling? Is that really you? What do you want?"

(hey, this picture thing can be fun ...)
